Vira Lozinsky, a recent Grand Prize winner of the International Jewish Music Competition in Amsterdam, is one of today's outstanding Yiddish singers. She blends her singing with a variety of musical styles from East European folk from Klezmer, Gypsy, Romanian and Russian, to South American Tangos. Her repertoire includes new material as well as Yiddish folk songs, songs of Bessarabian, Romanian and Polish Jewish poets, and classical and modern Yiddish poets.
Born in Beltz, Moldova to a family of Yiddish artists, Vira was exposed at an early age to the cultures and musical styles of the many ethnic groups living in Moldova: Moldovans, Romanians, Jews, Roma, Russians and others. She lives in Israel where she moved to when she was 16.
