In many ways, Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf lived parallel lives: the two women, whose heartrending loves and lives fed the soulful, singularity of their voices, were born during the same year on opposite shores.
Both became national treasures in their homelands and were two of the most celebrated chanteuses of their time (and all time) across the world, but they never met. They died 4 years apart in the cities they loved.
Curated by revolutionary art-rock, new-wave goddess Nona Hendryx and an international roster of contemporary vocalists, Parallel Lives is a meeting of the minds and music of these two legends—a global celebration of both ‘Lady Day’ and the ‘Little Sparrow.’
