Joe McGinty and The Loser’s Lounge are celebrating their 25th Anniversary! On December 6, 7, 8 at Joe’s Pub, with a very special tribute to Paul Williams!!! Yes, The Losers Lounge is turning TWENTY FIVE! Twenty five years of down-town New York’s best live music, with a collection of New York’s most eclectic singers and musicians performing guilty pleasures from the pop cannon: “From Abba to The Zombies.” Every other month, Joe McGinty and The Losers have been reverently and irreverently recreating the music we love live. According to McGinty, “The Loser’s Lounge has been the centerpiece of my New York music life for 25 years and it’s responsible for some of my greatest musical experiences. I’ve gotten to celebrate the music I love, and perform with some of my musical heroes.  And of course there’s the ever expanding group of performers drawn from the incredible talent that is a part of NYC. The fact that this show has created such a tight knit musical community is one of the things that makes New York so great. The fact that people keep coming proves what the late, great Fats Domino once said: “Music makes people feel good. And if it makes the people feel good, it makes me feel good!”

We are proud to celebrate this very special occasion with a tribute to one of the great pop song writers of our era, Paul Williams! Paul Williams wrote many hits that we all know and love, including The Carpenters “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Rainy Days and Mondays,” “I Won’t Last A Day Without You,” Barbra Streisand’s “Evergreen,” Daft Punk’s “Touch” and “Beyond,” “ “The Rainbow Connection,” and the songs from The Muppet Movie, Three Dog Night’s “An Old Fashioned Love Song,” Helen Ready’s “You and Me Against The World,” the them to “The Love Boat,” and songs from popular 70’s films “Bugsy Malone,” “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas,” “Phantom Of The Paradise,” (in which Paul Williams plays SWAN AKA the devil) and many other great songs. Paul Williams was a ubiquitous celebrity of the 1970s. Appearing in all three Smokey and The Bandit movies, Battle for the Planet of the Apes, The Muppet Movie, and TV shows including Hawaii Five –O, B.L and The Bear, The Hardy Boys, The Love Boat, Match Game, The Gong Show, Fantasy Island, The Tonight show with Johnny Carson, and many many more.

The Losers Lounge have been a ubiquitous part of NYC night life in their 25 year history performing at The Pink Pony, Fez under Time Café, The Westbeth Theater, Bowery Ballroom, The Knitting Factory, and their long standing current home, Joe’s Pub. They have been featured on Comedy Central’s “Night of Too Many Stars,” ABC’s TV Series “My Kind of Town,” NBC’s “Last Call With Carson Daly,” as well as NPR, WFUV, WBAI, WFMU. Time Out New York has correctly called The Loser’s Lounge “Essential New York.” Over the years The Loser’s Lounge have been joined on stage by all sorts of stars including Lana Del Ray, Richard Dreyfuss, Debbie Harry, Moby, Parker Posey, Cyndi Lauper, Joey Ramone, Fred Armisen, Santi Gold, Michael Cerveris, Lee Hazelwood, John Cameron Mitchell and many many more. Please join us in celebrating 25 years of Joe McGinty and The Loser’s Lounge with this special tribute to Paul Williams.
