The Carol Lipnik Songbook

Joe's Pub

November 16

Doors at 6PM
Show at 7PM

An eye-popping cast of celebrated performers gathers together to highlight and celebrate the extraordinary songwriting talents of Coney Island native Carol Lipnik for this one night only special event. Confirmed performers include the iconic downtown performance artist John Kelly; celebrated monologist and playwright David Cale (Harry Clarke); opera diva Lauren Flanigan; multi-hyphenate raconteur Joseph Keckler; Brechtian singer-songwriter Rachelle Garniez and bright new star on the downtown scene, Silver Wallace. Additional performers to be announced. The show is music directed by Matt Kanelos and presented by downtown impresario Earl Dax (who continues his celebrated series of songbook shows which have included Stew and The Negro Problem, Cynthia Hopkins and Nick Hallett) and TWEED TheaterWorks.

"What separates Ms. Lipnik from every other conjurer of the otherworldly is her phenomenal voice. With a fouroctave range, impeccable pitch and several distinct personalities within that voice, Ms. Lipnik evoked singers as disparate as Diamanda Galás, Maude Maggart, Yma Sumac and the yodeling Joni Mitchell. Her instrument is, in a word, phenomenal."
