Night of a Thousand Acid Queens: A Queer Concert Version of The Who’s Tommy

September 11

Joe's Pub

Doors at 9PM
Show at 9:30PM

The weirdest movie musical of the 70's gets a (tight-)fitting tribute with NIGHT OF A THOUSAND ACID QUEENS, a queer concert version of THE WHO’S TOMMY featuring performances by Cheryl Freeman (who originated the role of the Acid Queen in the Broadway production), Tony Award winner Cady Huffman (THE PRODUCERS), Erik Liberman (WAR PAINT) Michael MustoJustin Sams (ABC’s WHEN WE RISE), and Joe’s Pub regular Kenyon Phillips as Tommy. With musical direction by multi-instrumentalist Eric Miranda and a band comprised of Miranda, Mackenzie Shivers, Yuka Tadano and Scott Meola, NIGHT OF A THOUSAND ACID QUEENS promises to be every bit as trippy, campy and baldly blasphemous as the 1975 film by Ken Russell — whose widow, Lisi Tribble, has made this evening possible.
