About Public Forum: A Well-Ordered Nation:Over four evenings in the coming months, artists, thinkers, journalists, performers, and politicians will come together at The Public to consider what it means to be responsible citizens and how culture can respond to politics in the age of Donald Trump.
American democracy depends on electing representatives and not enabling rulers. What happens when journalists and artists who voice the people’s dissent are labelled enemies of the people? How do you protect and wield truth when lies are used to corrode public trust? The Public Theater and The New Yorker bring together a group of journalists and artists—New Yorker staff writer Jelani Cobb; journalist and author Masha Gessen; actor, writer, and producer Aasif Mandvi; and activist and organized Brittany Packnett in conversation with New Yorker editor David Remnick—to examine what it means to tell truth to power.
