Joe's Pub

Doors at 6PM; Show at 7PM

Just one year after the release of their critically acclaimed, brilliantly colored debut album - Amour, t'es la ?, Banda Magda returns to Joe's Pub with "Yerakina", a collection of re-imagined folksongs, imbued with the deep flavors of a year of focused rehearsals, joyful performances, raucous gatherings, and near-silent late-night van rides in distant lands.  These songs' common theme is devotion, a word that well describes Banda Magda's multinational members' attitude to both music and each other.  Led by Greek-born singer, film scorer, and composer Magda Giannikou, this tight-knit family of fourteen will sing in five different languages, accompanied by the seductive thunder of Brazilian and Afro-Peruvian grooves and imploring traditional Greek melodies.
