Joe’s Pub, “the city’s premier small spot for sit down audiences” (Time Out New York), picks up and moves down to Houston for the second year of its acclaimed series with Lott Entertainment.
Led by Kathryn Lott and Allison Lott, Lott Entertainment, like Joe’s Pub has quickly become known for shaking up Houston by presenting shows that push the boundaries of traditional theater—provocative, immersive and deliberately different works. The 2015-2016 Joe’s Pub Houston series as part of their season featured Bridget Everett, Daniel Koren and Bridget Barkan. Kathryn said, “I knew when Allison and I started this company that Joe’s Pub would be an integral part of our programming. With the help of Shanta Thake, we were able to make that ambition a reality for us and for Houston.”
This year, the Joe’s Pub Houston series will feature Mx Justin Vivian Bond’s Love Is Crazy (October 20-21, tickets are on sale now). Additionally, the season will have Puddles Pity Party (November 4-5), the “Sad Clown with the Golden Voice” and his suitcase full of emotional anthems and awkward, tender moments; and Martha Redbone’s Bone Hill (April 21-22), the songwriter’s soaring new work about four generations of a family in the Appalachian Mountains.
